BCHow to Join the Library

To check out materials, you need a valid Broome County Public Library card. To apply for a card, bring identification with your name and current address on it. You will have to fill out an application form which will take a few minutes.
To fill out and print an application for a library card, click here! This can be filled out on the computer, then printed. Bring the completed form into the library at your convenience.

Library cards are free to all people who live or own property in Broome, Chenango, Delaware or Otsego Counties. Others must pay a nonresident fee to obtain a subscription card. Your card can be used at the Broome County Library.

The loan period for most items is 3 weeks. Some videos and other items have shorter loan periods or certain restrictions. 

You can renew most materials in person or by telephone. (Videos and DVD's can not be renewed.)

The Library will notify you if books are overdue. Let us know promptly if you change your address or telephone number.

Lost or stolen library cards must be reported right away. Anything taken out on your card is your responsibility until the card is reported missing.

Privacy

All information in your record is confidential. The library does not keep records of what you have read and returned. We store only current information in order to answer your inquires.

Library Services

Hundreds of audiocassettes, videos and DVD's are available in our Audiovisual Department. Spoken fiction and nonfiction literature are available on cassette and CD. Feature titles, recent features, classics, foreign, children's family favorites are also available.

Books in Chinese, Russian, Italian, Vietnamese and other languages are available at the Central Library.

Large Print books are also available at the Broome County Public Library.

Coin-operated photocopiers are located at the Central Library.
