| Since 1919 the Broome County Historical Society has been collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of
our area. The generosity of our membership has helped the Society engage in these areas: |
PROGRAMS |
The BCHS holds nine regular programs each year, as well as special lectures, workshops and trips. |

PUBLICATIONS |
We publish two issues of our newsletter, Broome County History Bulletin, each year.
The BCHS also publishes scholarly and popular books on our area's history such as Past & Present, Stereographic Scenes Around Broome County by
Charles J. Browne, Deputy County Historian and Robert Harpur's New York by Anne T. Herbert. |

COLLECTIONS |
The Society maintains a collection of over 100,000 items covering our area from pre-history to the present. We have preserved
these items by using current museum and archival standards. |
LIBRARY |
The BCHS is a major participant in the Local History & Genealogy Center in the Broome County Public Library.
Over 38,000 people visit the Center annually. A collection of books, manuscripts, photographic images, newspaper clippings, obituaries and an index of of
225,000 names are maintained in the Local History & Genealogy Center. |

EXHIBITS |
We have held many exhibits for residents and visitors to enjoy, using items from the Society's collections.
Recent exhibits include We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident: New York and the American Revolution and The Southern Tier and Space.

RESEARCH |
We provide a research service using only materials located in the Local History & Genealogy Center. The cost for research is $10.00/hour, plus the cost of copies (.25).
All monies must be paid before the research can be started. Please send any research requests to: Broome County Historical Society 185 Court St. Binghamton, NY, 13901.
| MEMBERSHIP |
Members of the Broome County Historical Society receive 10% off any BCHS publication.
Members also pay half the cost of research ($5.00/hour instead of $10.00/hour). Your membership dollars help us continue our valuable work.
